May 26, 2013 Wife and I flew from Sedona, AZ to St Louis, MO to visit family. Original plan was to fly to Oklahoma and then up to Missouri. Ended up deviating from our route and picked McPherson off the chart. Big mistake. After landing and taxi up to the self serve fuel pit we found the facilities closed. No bathrooms, no phones, and the wind were howling at 20 knots. Only after fueling did I discover that their Avgas price is 6.60 a gallon. YIKES. We were going to have lunch there, but instead we just wanted to get out of there. In fact after getting home and looking at AirNav it seems there are not any airports in the Wichita area that are gas friendly. If going on a cross-country flight its much better to use Oklahoma airports. Several have Avgas that are less than 5 dollars a gallon. As for McPherson.... There is no reason to use this airport.

We stay here a couple times a year to see relatives. Staff is always going out of their way to accommodate us with hangar space and early & late arrivals.

Quick turn for fuel. Took car for lunch - DJ's Kwik Burgers, really good burgers!
