On my way July 20 from Sierra Vista, AZ (FHU) to Oshkosh (OSH), I stopped at MPR for the night around 4PM to wait out WX ahead. Tom Chandler, airport manager, greeted me and happily hangared my plane ($15) due to forecasted heavy rain/winds. He handed me the keys to his courtesy car, which took me to a hotel downtown. The next morning (after a 2" overnight rainfall) he towed my plane to the mogas fuel pump while I checked WX on the computer in the pilot lounge. I topped off with mogas at the price advertised on AirNav. Tom couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. I vowed to stop again for the night on my way back to FHU, which I did. Next year, on my way to OSH if not before, I'll plan MPR as my overnight destination anytime I'm anywhere near McPherson.

A friend and I flew into McPherson today for a $100 hamburger. The restaurant is actually located in Canton, Kansas, which is approximately 15 miles east of McPherson on US 56. It is a lot like an old-fashioned soda shop. The name is Sodas & Suds. I highly recommend this place! The prices are very reasonable. GREAT food! GREAT people!
