Arrived during AirVenture and Hertz ran out of cars and decided my reservation was one they'd not honor. FBO and I both tried calling them and other rental companies to no avail, so I took on a few gallons of fuel and headed back home. Employee at desk tried to help, which was appreciated. When I arrived no one marshalled me, but there were parking spots with ropes so I parked and tied myself down. Their crew car was unavailable as it was in the shop for maintenance; bad week for that!

Our charitable aviation organization flies needy patients from Michigan's Upper Peninsula to major medical centers such as Milwaukee. We often use MWC as the friendly staff at Spring City let us use their courtesy car to drive these folks to nearby hospitals. On a recent trip the car was overdue for return and our patient was ready for pickup, so Ryan, the manager on duty, drove me over in his personal vehicle and waited outside so I could sign the patient out following a surgical procedure. That sort of exceptional service is why we continue coming back to SCA. Thanks, Ryan.

Decided last minute to come up, stay with friends nearby, and visit OSH by car. Because of last minute decision, rental cars were hard to find. Local Hertz was willing, but added a $100 drop charge. A call to FBO had us set up for an enterprise car at reasonable cost. 6PM arrival had no line guys around for parking. Picked a spot that had no ropes and pushed the plane back myself. Lineman showed up eventually and I asked him for tie down ropes. Walked to FBO, signed forms for rental car and drove it out to airplane to load up. Car loaded, airplane secured except for tie down ropes. Another 20 minutes and we were finally tied down. Arrived back at FBO 3 days later, place was busy with other OSH traffic. Asked for fuel and waited for our turn. Again a slow process. Good: Front desk folks arranging last minute rental car, fuel price, nice airport. Not so good: Slow line service, lack of tie down ropes. I contributed to the issue by waiting til last minute on everything.
