Stopped in after hours for self serve top off. Pumps clearly marked, well priced, and easy to operate. Bathrooms located NE of pumps at end of T-hangar row when FBO building closed. Only hitches were lots of hungry mosquitoes and the hose reel was not easy to lock or retract.... May have been operator error (it was dark).

I was disappointed on my trip on 6/20/2013. I came in for a quick turn and pick up passengers. I did not top off in Greer SC so I could buy courtesy fuel from these guys. With my maint discount at Greer, the fuel would have been cheaper at Greer. I pulled up to the self-serve area and wasted thirty minutes trying to make it work. I then had to help the new guy with the truck since he had been left alone and was not familiar. I pumped my own fuel off there truck and was still charged full price. The self-serve also did two small charges although it never pumped anything. They did not know how to run the credit card after fueling from the truck. I wasted a lot of time with my passengers standing there watching us.

Nice airport for a quick fuel stop on the way down the coast. Terminal is very nice for a small airport. Do check Notams as they will publish if they are out of fuel (I didn't stop here on my way home because of this).

Nine LSA airplanes from Wisconsin made a trip to Kitty Hawk in April 2013. We used Currituck as our overnight stop before flying the Outer Banks to the First Flight Airport in the morning. Self serve fuel and some of us camped by our airplanes. Called ahead and the keys were left in the crew car for us. Hung out in their nice new FBO building in the morning until the sky lifted enough for us to fly out. Thanks Jim for accommodating our group.

Great fuel price and friendly folks. Helped with the self serve, became full serve at the self serve price. I'll be back.

From Greg Fall on 24-Mar-2012

We flew into ONX on March 3rd for fuel on the way south from PYM. The weather ahead was the storm that caused many tornados and a lot of damage in several southern states. We decided to stay the night. With the help of Mark (who went out of his way to help us), we were able to find a nice place to stay and dine close by.... And given a crew car to get there. That is one of the great facets of general aviation! So, in summary: * Nice terminal building. * Great fuel pricing. * Friendly and helpful staff. * Nice runway and approach. Greg Fall, Hanson, MA ps. My wife left her library book in the crew car the next morning.... The airport manager mailed it back. Thank - you.

One of the best airports in the region to purchase fuel. A bonus is the super friendly staff. More often than not when I pull up to the self-serve pumps, one of the linemen will come out and give me a hand with the pump, grounding strap and hoses. Now that's service! If you are a local or transient you can't do better than KONX.

Went to land for fuel on 6/24/11 and the AWOS says "Runway 5/23 (or whatever it is) CLOSED UFN. FIXED WING DO NOT LAND!" Not sure how long further notice will be, but be advised if you're planning on stopping here!

Response from Jim Elliott, Currituck County
The runway was closed for 3 weeks while they installed stubs for a new north end taxiway. It opened back up July 1st. Also in process of re-sealing and repainting runway. The place is looking great and low fuel prices make this a great place to stop.

I had flown down to KFFA (First Flight) for the day and was looking for a fuel stop. KONX was the place! Inexpensive fuel and great FBO. (PC's seem to be on dial-up so there a little slow) Airport Manager checked on us to make sure we were all set and if wee needed anything else. Southern Hospitality! There is ultralight activity so keep your head on a swivel. A great little airport and it is now one of our fuel stops when heading South.
