Avoidance of the maintenance shop for single engine piston aircraft is highly recommended. Our Skyhawk had a battery failure and would not start. After running a battery diagnostic test, they misdiagnosed the problem, then ordered and installed a new contactor, which didn't resolve the issue. Once they figured out it was the battery, they ordered the wrong replacement and it would not fit. Another battery (and more delays) was ordered. After being grounded for a week and a total bill of $1,584, we have a new battery installed. Of course they didn't apologize nor credit us for their extra labor. Their maintenance manager mentioned that we were fortunate that they hadn't doubled their rate because they had to "fit us in". Their charge was for 6 hours of labor at $95 per hour, which, to me, seems excessive for diagnosing and replacing a standard aircraft battery. They recommended that we keep the contactor they had removed, since nothing was wrong with it. More high prices

I was shocked. Flew from VUO to pick up a friend from PDX. Got smacked with a $50 fee. Never again, too bad Flightcraft is no more. Guess GA is no longer welcome. I understand needing to make a profit, but $50 for no service except letting me through the doors. That's ridiculous. Port of Portland, please make a gate through the fence. I will gladly pay $10 to the airport for getting in and out. Don't see any sense in paying the other $40.

I am planning a flight to KPDX from KPLU with a couple of friends and after reading most of the reviews, am unsure if I want to head down there. I truly don't mind a $10.00 fee, I get it, but I'm not interested in breaking the bank for staying less than an hour!!! Hopefully, I'll call and get some good info or I'm headed for a flyover of KPDX and landing into KHIO!!!!

After reading comments, I called ahead to Atlantic to ask how much to pick up a passenger. I was told $10 for a simple pick-up/drop-off, or $20 facility fee/ 15 gal avgas if you need the shuttle or otherwise use the facility. I asked about security fee, was told no security fee. When I arrived everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. I rode over to the terminal with them in their courtesy shuttle to pick up my friend. They drove us right back to the airplane and helped load luggage. When I went to pay, the young woman said, "We'll just charge you the $10 since it's your first time with us. Have a nice day!" A very pleasant experience; I would say the owners are listening to our concerns.

Still a great place to visit! (3/26/12) I nearly didn't go to Atlantic as I read other reviews. Parking my Cardinal overnight was $10, plus $20 facility fee. My arrival was guided by flightline staff to directly outside the Atlantic Lounge, where my plane was chocked and baggage service offered. Inside the terminal, transport to PDX MAX cityrail was promptly organized as well as coffee, cookies and a very comfortable lounge for my passenger to wait while I confirmed services/expected departure time. Calling in advance meant my plane would be waiting for departure. It was right outside the lounge on my return and I felt like a VIP. I was delighted with all aspects of the service. I know everyone wants "free" but these guys need to make money or we all lose another place to fly into. A warm comfortable facility for the price of 4 coffees. I will definitely return to Atlantic on my next visit to Portland, and I hope they keep up the VIP treatment for everyone, even small Cessna's

I ended up diverting to PDX after dense fog made getting into HIO impossible. They were slammed with diverted traffic and only one desk staff member. However, they got a rental car and me out the door quickly and efficiently. The next day, I returned the car and feared the worst having looked at these comments. Kristi, the desk clerk, was fantastic--she got me a crew rate on the car (as I was returning it!) had my Mooney pulled up front, and charged a pittance for overnight parking. I felt like a valued customer rather than a source of revenue. Given the tone of Robert Pinedo's response to the negative comments, I think he could spend some quality time learning from his staff how to provide value rather than espousing his "business model".

Gorge Winds Aviation at Troutdale (KTTD) is just 8 miles east of KPDX, we have lower fuel prices and landing fees. Easy Access to I-84.

Nothing is getting any better with how Atlantic treats General Aviation. Please let the Port of Portland hear from you about being shut out of the public airport at Portland by emailing the Port of Portland with your thoughts. Thanks!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We were forced to land here because of a 300' ceiling in KUAO and 1/4 mile vis. In KHIO. No need to go into deep detail, long story short... Go somewhere else. Save yourself the frustration and avoid Atlantic PDX at all costs.

Not impressed with the business atmosphere. Landed there in a C-180, and after walking inside they told me it was a $45 parking fee, even though I was dropping off a few folks. They would waive the fee if I bought 15 gal of Avgas @ 6.71/gal. Then after I bought 18 gal of fuel (which I needed anyways), I left. While in the air, I started looking at my receipt, they charged me an additional $10 Security fee. The Staff and the receptionist were quite rude and not friendly at all. I have never in my life seen parking and hidden fees at a facility like that. If anyone is heading to Portland and thinking about parking at Atlantic Air, avoid it and go to another airport. Plus they never heard of AirNav or the AirBoss card when I asked them if they offered fuel discounts. They are the only FBO there and are monopolizing the market........ I'm still pissed about the whole deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flightcraft will be missed. $10 security fee, $40 for a ramp fee: Had to pull our own chocks. The days of small GA at PDX are apparently over...

On a recent trip to PDX I taxied to what I thought was FlightCraft, but had been recently bought by Atlantic Aviation. What I encountered was a rude surprise. $50 to park, Overpriced fuel, and a sense of mistrust and corporate arrogance. Nothing like FlightCraft used to be. The next day in Eugene I encountered the same thing.. Seems Atlantic bought Flightcraft there as well. Atlantic has essentially shut off the two major air terminals in Oregon from small plane flyers in one fell swoop. It prevents me from picking up or dropping off passengers in my plane, and attending the AOPA seminars offered on those cities. I can only hope that some of the Oregonian hospitality will rub off on them, and they will eventually let us back in.

When I previously flew into PDX, it was managed by Flightcraft, and they charged a reasonable parking fee. Now that it's changed over to Atlantic, it's outrageous! I flew in there yesterday, spent less than 1 hour there and ended up paying $50! It was $40 for the "facility fee" and $10 for a "security fee." Ridiculous. Furthermore, there is no posting that they are charging you their outrageous prices. I had no idea that they were even going to charge me, as previously Flightcraft would give you 2 hours of free parking, then just a nominal charge. Needless to say, I won't be back until they fix this issue. It's already tight on the budget to fly a private airplane, needless to say when they thrown in these ridiculous charges. Too bad there isn't any competition for them at PDX. The only thing positive about the experience is that the flight line guy, Chris, was nice as well as the young man who had to give me the bad news, Jarrod.

As the previous comment stated, it is the end of a good era now that Flightcraft is no longer the FBO at PDX. We used to fly to Flightcraft to drop off or pick up a person traveling via airlines. Flight craft would provide transportation to/from the airline terminal. I just checked and the prices charged by Atlantic are outrageous. The cost for a couple hours parking is $60 to $100.00!! There is even a $10.00 "Security fee". The "little guy" is price prohibited.

The previous poster nailed it on the head. Literally the minute Atlantic took over, fees skyrocketed! Stop just south of PDX @ KUAO or over the hill @ KHIO & prices are average two dollars a gallon less plus the drive into downtown is usually better! So long Flightcraft, you will be missed!

Today was the first day for Atlantic, according to the lineperson. Flightcraft had been the FBO for the last 50 years or so, and was a legend. Flightcraft normally charged me - single engine - $10 per day for parking. Atlantic charged me $60.00 for 4 hours and I had to pull my own chocks. I sure will miss Flightcraft.
