During my training for my private certificate, I used PGD as part of my long cross-country solo flight. After landing and clearing the runway, my left main tire went flat on me and I was dead in the middle of the taxi area. Within minutes there was a truck out there with air and though it took a little while, was able to taxi to GA parking. Just to say thanks I bought some fuel and had a wonderful lunch. The only thing I was no happy about was the fact that the local mechanics were not open on Saturday nor was there an after hours call out number. Had to call my home base and wait for a mechanic to be flown down to change the inner tube in the tire. Other than that, I love flying into PGD. Great people and willing to go above and beyond what is asked of them.

Stopped in at KPGD and had a "great" breakfast at SkyView Cafe. FBO and line folks are great, will do anything to assist and good self serve fuel prices. NEW ADDITION: Skyview Cafe now has a "golf cart" and will shuttle you to & from the FBO in order that you can enjoy a good breakfast or lunch. On landing, call them at 941-637-6004 and they will be at the FBO in 2 minutes. Kudos’ Ed & Carolyn---really a nice touch to your great little cafe.

Flew into PGD on Saturday. Fairly busy and planes using every runway, 9, 4, 15. The plan was to eat at the Skyview Cafe. Runway 9 was the obvious choice. This small runway 2635x60 was paved on top of the large and in poor shape old RWY 9-27. You can't go off the edge (drop off and rough - even at the runway 27 end) and you have to plan for back taxi to the runway 9 end. Information here is wrong info on this runway showing it as 5044x150. I watched a private jet taxi to RWY 4. Scary thing is that he didn't announce anything on the radio about taking off... An accident waiting to happen in my opinion. Then we have the RED area around the airline terminal just North of the FBO. This is a non-movement area. The FAA or TSA gets bent when you taxi through it. In my opinion the signage stinks and there isn't much obvious to a transient pilot that this area is for airliners use only. FBO people very friendly. No fees for this flight.

This airport is no longer user friendly towards general Aviation. They're too busy dealing with DirectAir. You have to tie-down a good distance from the FBO. The restaurant was overcrowded with airline passengers and service was terribly slow. I used to enjoy going there for lunch once in a while, but I'm going to stay away from now on.

Landed in Punta Gorda at 5:30 pm on April 22, 2008. Brett took care of the airplane parking and arranged a rental car for us even though the agencies in the main terminal were closed. When we returned two days later, the plane was fueled as requested and ready to go. Had a very pleasant experience.

Flew in for lunch at the Skyview Cafe. Found a place to park on the ramp but no ropes anywhere in sight. You have to walk thru the FBO to get off the ramp then into the Skyview Cafe from the street side. Line guys very friendly, no fees. Had a very nice sandwich with fries, good prices, and ok service. Landed RWY 15 which is smooth and nice. Would be "A" rated if you could tie down in front of the restaurant but still a good stop.

Nobody greeted me on the ramp. Went inside and was told about the self-serve pumps around the corner. Great self-serve fuel prices. Look for the big EAA building off to your left when taxing to the ramp and you will find the self-serve pumps.

This was my destination airport on a long trip from Ohio in a Piper 140. Nobody around to park me, had to move my plane after I went into the FBO (old Eastern Avionics building). $4.70gal and $5.50 a day to park. I think this is a brand new FBO, and things will get better. FBO appears clean and I got everything I asked for, so no real complaints. Landed RWY 9 on 12/8/07 had to back taxi. Looks like airport is well on it's way back after Charlie. I'll be back.

I have been using this place for 3 years, misfueled 4 different times, will not move your plane, now with Airbus coming in nobody knows where to park or how to get your car to and from the plane.

The information contained on this site for KPGD (Charlotte County Airport) contains some information that is NOT valid as of 2/5/2007. Runway 9/27 (2600 X 60) is open for daytime use ONLY and back taxi is required when landing runway 9. The terminal VOR is out of service and likely will remain that way. Hours of attended operation are 24/7. (Possibly excluding some holidays) The pilot lounge is no more so you guys will have to sleep in the lobby (try not to snore to loud).

Self service fuel at $3.37/gal and parking at $4.50 day is very reasonable for the area. But services and friendliness are lacking!! Nobody came to greet me in my Cessna 310 on arrival, so I floundered around looking for a tietown with 3 ropes. After I parked and came inside, I was told that I had parked in the Jet Area, and would have to move. It was a very large area with no jets or other planes. I told them I had left the brakes off and it was OK with me if they wanted to move it. They told me they would move it for a $25 fee. The Hertz car I made arrangements for was not ready. I'll use Page Field next trip, even if fuel and parking costs more!
