Hortman just finished the annual on my Grumman Tiger (N999SR), and as always, it was a first class, top-notch job. They take care of the planes they work on as if they were their own - I am so appreciative of the service and responsiveness that I receive there. Herb and John always respond to calls and take the time to explain all issues in detail. Herb truly treats you like family and is one of the most knowledgeable in the business. Today it is rare to get a business owned who is so experienced and busy, but who always makes time for his customers and gets to know them on a personal level. Highly, highly recommended.

I got my PP at Hortman flying their AA-1s. Then I found I couldn't rent Grumman’s anywhere else when I moved out of Philly, so I decided to get my own. Hortman planes are well maintained and are great value. It's hard to beat $55/hr for their AA-1 (which I paid during 2004-2005) but it's still hard to beat their prices these days in the high $60s.

Hortman truly gives above and beyond service. I recently completed the sale of my Grumman Tiger. New owner wanted a pre-buy and oil change done on short notice in the busy summer season by a Grumman-expert facility. Shop owner (Herb) and Mechanic John Loftus arraigned ferry of the aircraft from a neighboring airport and worked overtime accomplish the work. In more than a decade of aircraft ownership I have never found a more expert, thorough, and customer-service oriented organization. These guys are good!

Dear Herb, Jack and Bob: I wanted to thank you for taking me all the way to my Private Pilot in 3 months. What an achievement! Overall, I went through a very comprehensive and demanding program but I has usually been a lot of fun, which is what matters most after all! Kind regards, Guillaume

First my daughter got her Private ASEL at Hortman. Then I got my Private and Instrument. Then my wife got her Private, too. Hortman is the best. They do all the maintenance on my Tiger. I can't think of a better company I deal with.

I completed both my private and instrument training at Hortman Aviation. I am now working on my commercial rating. I have had nothing but good experiences at this particular school. It is a good sized school with a large fleet of a variety of different airplanes. They also have a computer training room which is a tremendous help in training for your different ratings. All of the instructors are very professional, and the staff are very accomodating. If you live in the Philadelphia area, I strongly recommend that you receive your training at Hortman.

Went to Hortman Aviation 8/07 to complete my commercial rating, with over 253.1 hours and under part with the written test done. The flight instructor insisted to me to change books from Cessna Pilot course to Jeppesen. I HAD ALREADY PASSED THE WRITEN! He stated that "George and Martha are junk, you need to get Jeppesen and read them." My written test had expired the last day of June. On the first day of June I had went fly with him, he said the maneuvers were good just need to work on some pilotage and dead reckoning and then I would be signed off. The next day he all of a sudden changes his mind he says that the maneuvers are not up to PTS standards and you need to work on them. This was nothing but, just a waist of $12, 000.00 of aircraft rental time and a waist of time with the flight instructor.
