I stopped here to do some business. Rather than make me call a cab or try to find my way in a crew car the attendant took an early lunch and drove me to the courthouse. The airport denizens were friendly too.

I recently (1-25-07) stopped at Paul's Valley while ferrying a Pawnee to New Mexico from Chattanooga. I called ahead from my last fuel stop and was graciously offered the use of their courtesy car. The self-serve fuel was cheap at $2.79. Although I arrived after sunset and no one was there, a very friendly chocolate lab greeted me. I found the Days Inn to be new, clean and cheap. Also, check out Tio's Mexican restaurant on Grant Street for an excellent plate of food. I highly recommend this airport if you need an overnighter!

Called 15 miles out for a wind check and was told gusting from 130. Announced set up for Rwy 12. On downwind noticed the X's and called Unicom he confirmed it was closed. The AWOS mentions North end of 17 but nothing about closures. Unicom also ignored this when in direct communications. I thought that was a weak effort. Other than that it was a nice enough facility, but I doubt I'll be back. I'd rate it a 4.
