I visit Lindbergh weekly in an RV-7A and the service at Landmark is always great. A lineman is always waiting to guide me into a parking space and help load bags into the van. The front desk staff is friendly and the ramp fee is reasonable considering the airport ($25 or $12.50 with 20 gals of fuel).

From Max Grogan on 02-Oct-2009
My recent three day stay in San Diego started with a great experience. The lineman was a pro. He guided our Bonanza to parking and assisted us with luggage all the way to our waiting rental car. We drove to our great hotel a couple of miles away and were delighted with Landmark's choice of a place to stay. This was a great, no hassle, experience. Thanks for helping make our visit an exceptional experience.

Flew in the KSAN on 04 Jul in a Diamond Da-20 from KBUR, VFR. Once I was handed over to the Tower, I was told that a lot of heavy metal was coming in, but that they were going to work me in. Approaching from the ocean and told to enter in on an R downwind for 27. I was asked to keep it really tight to the rwy as the timing between the regional was going to be tight. As I was on the downwind, I was told to extend the downwind and expect a few left 360's..& Yes, keep'em tight! So after about (3) 360's & the close passing of two 737's I was cleared to land, make best speed! Base, Final cross the numbers, 150, 100...GO AROUND! Yikes, I thought I felt something pushing my 6.... Full power, climb out & told again, tight downwind and expect 360's..Went through the motions again and this time...Touchdown! I enjoyed the challenge.. Great job SAN ATC. Landmark by the way was great as always. Although this was my first visit to SAN the service level was what I expected from other Landmarks elsewhere.

I have been here twice, and both experiences have been outstanding. Both times, I was met by a lineman who ran (!) to meet my airplane, marshaled me to my spot, took my fuel order, and helped me with my luggage. When I walked into the FBO on my second visit (about two months later), one of the CSRs put down the paper he was working on and walked over to me to thank me for coming back! All this for a guy in a piston single who bought 30 gallons of AVGAS and paid a $12.50 handling fee. I'll definitely be back!

Flew in for an overnight on 7/12/09. ATC and Tower were great to deal with, and Landmark was very professional and courteous. $25/night parking fee, reduced to $12.50/night with minimum fuel purchase. Great deal considering car parking in downtown San Diego runs over $30/night. Will definitely use Landmark again.

Landed KSAN in beautiful VFR Weather south along the coast. First time at Landmark. Found them to be very friendly. They called a cab since the shuttle was running slow. $25/Night for great service is well worth it. Thanks, will be back.

Flew my Cessna 310 in for a few hours on May 4, 2009 and didn't use a nearby (and much less expensive) airport due to critical time constraints. Have used this FBO when it was JimsAir and they were pretty expensive ($60 ramp fee) but Landmark is now charging an outrageous $145 ramp fee for a light twin. The alternative is a minimum 50-gallon fuel purchase at $2 more per gallon than other airfields -- so the cost is pretty much a wash. It is my plan to never frequent any Landmark Aviation FBOs in any of my airplanes. They got $145 but won't be getting any other purchases from me EVER -- and for a $140 gouging won't be getting ANY $1,000+ Jet Fuel purchases from me.

From Reid Watkins on 29-Mar-2009
Just returned from a great afternoon in San Diego. Landmark treated my wife, our Cessna 150, and me just fine. Yes, we paid a $25 ramp fee but it was worth it for the convenience of landing at Lindbergh, just across the street from the Midtown trolley stop, within walking distance of Little Italy, the Gaslamp, ferry to Coronado, etc. We've landed at Gillespie several times before and taken the trolley into San Diego but landing at SAN was much more convenient (and fun). On initial contact the tower controller told me my radio was barely readable. I took that as a subtle hint to think twice before arriving VFR at a class B airport in a slow single, as no other controllers have complained about my radio being weak today or in the past. Other than that one little admonishment, the arrival and departure were routine. I look forward to returning in the near future.

My company took a King Air and a Citation Encore in for an overnight. Both aircraft were buying fuel, which was $1.20 higher than our next destination, and we tried to work out a deal to waive the overnight fees of $360 for each aircraft. Landmark waived only half the fee, even though we were willing to purchase more fuel than we needed. The King Air had to go back in the next day for a pick up, but Landmark would not waive any of the $360 ramp fee, regardless of how much fuel we purchased. Bottom line - the service wasn't that good, the fees were too high, the fuel prices too high, they have a monopoly so there is no alternative FBO at KSAN. Go to any of the other San Diego airports if you can.

From Marc Osborne on 16-Jan-2009
I parked my C-172 here 6 days. I found the fuel price very reasonable for a large airport and I was treated very courteously. Their staff was very professional.

From Marc Duda on 23-Nov-2008
I flew in today to pickup some friends at the Cruise Ship terminal. I realize San Diego is an international airport but $225 to land my Cessna 421 for 2 hours seems ridiculous, even considering they let us use their van to pick my friends up. I was there 2 months ago under old ownership and they charged $65. The staff is great!!

From Michael Adams on 14-Nov-2008
Excessive ramp fees hit us all from time to time. The ramp fees here are applicable DAILY if not purchasing fuel. As far as I know, this is not disclosed when queried.

From Danny Kao on 22-May-2008
Even before I arrived in my Bonanza, Jimsair gave me great service. Pierre booked a hotel for me at a great crew rate (the savings more than made up for the ramp fee and gas premium) and the Jimsair shuttle van meant I didn’t have to rent a car. Kudos also to Rod, who helped me with an anxiety provoking but ultimately minor mechanical issue. Two thumbs WAY up.

From Randal Whittle on 03-May-2008
I arrived on the day of the Red Bull Air Races on a *very* busy day. Jimsair had their ramp full of Citations & Gulfstreams, but they treated my Saratoga very well. For a "big" airport, Avgas isn't too awful here--As I write this, $5/gal is the national norm and it was something like $5.75/gal here. I placed the order for 20 gals. Instead of ramp fee. Somehow topped it off with 32. I squawked--I did not want to pay that unnecessary overpriced fuel. To their *huge* credit, they made it right. I offered to pay for the 12 gals difference at a discounted rate but they simply did not charge me for that 12 gal. Difference. These folks are a class act. Even with their overpriced gas, they are not nearly as bad as I paid at Double Eagle in Albuquerque or in Scottsdale 2 weeks earlier. They dealt with me fairly and professionally. I will definitely be back! Thank you Jimsair!

They are pricey, but what place isn’t at this kind of airport! Unique facilities inside a metal hangar. Rooms inside were air-conditioned but the outside was a bit warm and stuffy. Roomy pilot lounge, on site deli (with hot foods). Staff very helpful, a little trouble getting out the door cause there was nobody to open it, but no biggy!

From William Hartshorn on 05-Sep-2007
Location location location, SAN is in the heart of San Diego and even though Jimsair treated us well it would sure be great if they had competition. Also be advised that getting clearance into the arriving / departing aluminum conga line took 20 minutes.

From Tim Lewis on 27-Aug-2007
Awesome approach, great controllers, and friendly and efficient service from the staff at Jimsair. They even gave me a ride to my hotel. The overnight fee for my single was significantly discounted as I took 20 gals of fuel. By my calculations, the cab fare to and from any of the other GA airports would have easily exceeded the ramp fee and gas cost premium as KSAN, and that's before you put a price on convenience. Besides, flying the approach over the city at 130 KTS, wedged between a couple of 737s was totally worth the price of admission!

From Duane R. Amann on 26-Aug-2007
After crossing the US in a C206, Jimsair was very accommodating and provided excellent service for an overnight stay.

From S. Dupuis on 22-Aug-2007
Landed at KSAN in a Debonair for the beginning of a flying Vacation. Approach was great and so was tower. Jimsair was excellent. Clean, friendly, wireless Internet. They greeted us with a luggage cart, and took us to our hotel. $25 is the fee and worth it. Will return.

From Geza Kalman on 21-Aug-2007
Received very good service during our visit on 8/19 in our Archer. We took the trolley, from the station across the street, to "old town" for dinner ~ made for a great evening! Paying the $25 ramp fee made more sense for us, however they would waive this with a 20 gal fuel purchase. Despite the congestion and costs, Jimsair still makes San Diego Lindbergh a great destination stop for us.

From Geza Bodor on 19-Aug-2007
I visited Jimsair in June for the first time, flying my Bonanza. I was a bit hesitant about parking at Jimsair because of the mixed reviews at this web site, but I always wanted to try the approach, see the view on arrival and departure, and this was the closest airport to my destination. I had excellent service. The line boys were at my airplane with the golf cart, and they were fast calling me a cab and with my bill at departure. Their fuel prices are not cheap but they gave me $0.15/gal discount and waived $15/night from the parking fee. Not the cheapest prices, overall, but reasonable for a big city, international airport. I was back again in July, this time with family. Jimsair crew was even friendlier than before. Same discount as before. I needed oxygen and their service was efficient and cost the same as at home (APA, Denver). We had a quick lunch at their gift shop before departure and the food was excellent. I would go back again any time and I can highly recommend them.

In early October, my wife and I are celebrating our 2-year anniversary and plan to stay at Paradise Point. I drive a Piper Arrow and thought I would park at SAN, are there any tricks to rips for the approach and landing? Is it worth it to land there? I thought it would be a treat (for me mostly) to land at a class B airport for the weekend. Any feedback is much appreciated.

From Joe Trocki on 29-Jun-2007
They are now charging $90 a day for a B55 Baron!!! Already contacted the San Diego Chamber of Commerce and the SAN Regional Airport Authority about this robbery. Off to MYF...

From Peter Marx on 18-Jun-2007
Was in and out today to pick up a passenger. $25.00 fee without gas, assistance, or even convenient parking. They put my Diamond DA-40 and me about as far away as possible. The longest part of the experience (other than walking to/from the airplane) was waiting to pay the exorbitant fee. Jimsair needs some competition. Waiving the fee required 20 gallons of 100LL at $6/gallon -- or the equivalent of spending $40 extra to save $25. Aargh.

From Jon Nevin on 04-May-2007
I was skeptical flying in to SAN / Jimsair based on all of the comments but I think it was the best $20 ramp fee I've ever spent. Flew in a 172 5pm, controllers were great the whole way. Fuel is a little pricey but all of this is worth it for one of the most spectacular big city approaches around and the convenience of being in Downtown. The facility at Jimsair is nothing special; the staff was perfectly pleasant... I'd fly here again in a heartbeat

From Tim Hodges on 28-Apr-2007
Flew in Thursday 4PM in my Baron. Jims was very busy but I was met immediately by 2 line guys who helped load passenger bags and took them to a waiting car where another guy loaded bags in the car. Fast friendly service. Same on the way out. Sat 8:30AM from start up to take off took one hour and fifteen minutes! 500ft OVC so traffic was landing RW9. Didn't feel departing RW9 was as safe as RW27 plus 4 knot tail wind. Those of us who felt the same including several airbuses, a citation, and a commuter waited for landing traffic. We were warned of a delay in fact we all shut down on the taxiway until the ceiling lifted and RW27 was used. Nobody's fault but a real PIA.

From David Heras on 24-Apr-2007
Get this, I was a rammper for the Brocamontes in the 80's it sucked then and it sucks now. After calling in advance the ramp fee/facility fee was completely different. In there defense the manager agreed to reduce my fee to $86. However the fuel minimums were 150 gallons at double what I could buy them elsewhere. I was ready to let it go until I asked about a drinking fountain, was then told that I had to purchase a bottle of water in the gift shop (price still remains unknown). When I went to buy a sandwich I was reasonably satisfied to find out that the sandwiches where $6.50 unless of course you want meat then add $1.50 and cheese an additional .50. It seems that they were trying to get you any way they could just like in the 80's. I will not bring our KA 90 there again. If our principals insist I will just quit.
