SheltAir Aviation Services Savannah

SheltAir Aviation Services Savannah, located at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is SheltAir's first full-service FBO located in the state of Georgia.

Construction on this location began in mid-2008 and ended in mid-April of 2009. The SheltAir Savannah campus is initially home to a 13,000 sq. ft. corporate hangar, built high enough to accommodate a G650, 1,440 sq. ft. of associated office space, and a state-of-the-art 7,000 sq. ft. executive terminal complete with pilots lounge, cafeteria, passenger lobby, flight planning, and conference rooms.

Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, located just off of Interstate 95 in Savannah, Georgia, offers travelers a choice of nearly ten airlines flying regular service out of its 15-gate terminal. The terminal, completed in 1994 also houses a U.S. Customs facility and ground transportation services from many major rental car companies. The airport is also conveniently located about ten miles from downtown Savannah.

Our campus is located in the southwest corner of the airport, just north of the Gulfstream maintenance facility, off of taxiway GA-5 (via taxiway Alpha). By car, take Product Support Rd. north off of Dean Forrest Rd., then take a right onto Eddie Jungemann Dr.

Line crew was quick and pleasant - called for a cab while I secured my plane. Melissa at the desk was pleasant and efficient. Overall a good experience. Very nice FBO.

From Ben Zwebner on 02-Sep-2009
I flew in to Savannah in a 172 and was treated like a king! Gas was $5.29 but they give you a 50-cent discount if you top off with them. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful, such a breath of fresh air over the other guys on the field!

Great place for GA. The staff at SheltAir treat us like royalty in the C172. The facility is impressive with an excellent flight planning computers. The sweet tea was perfect. We needed a ride over to the car rental desk, so the folks there happily took us there. This place has it right, and the other FBO should pay attention.

Another great stop with SheltAir at SAV. Melissa and the crew of line guys took great care of us and I recommend them highly.

I called 2 days ahead and asked for a rental car (least expensive). Upon arrival I asked if there was a half day rate and was told that "yes, there was". I gave the counter person my AOPA discount number, which was written on the Rental Record. Now, when I've gotten my rental charge from Hertz I find that I was charged $52.87. Hertz says there is no such thing as a half day rental (strike 1), and that there were no discounts applied (strike 2). I know rental rates vary from market to market but quite frankly I expected to pay around $35 for the rental. BTW, I also purchased fuel (top off) from the FBO. I'm disappointed! It's still probably less than I'd have paid at Signature. Go figure!

Flew in my Cherokee 181 with a copy of their statement that they would match the lowest fuel on the field, that being the fuel farm at $4.29/gallon. With no hassle they did! They gave me free rides to and from the terminal (8 miles each way around the airport). No ramp fee or handling fee... What more could you ask? Always service with a smile, I would recommend them wholeheartedly!

Great facility. Flew in last Friday afternoon and they cut the hangar nightly cost in half for me, and the people were very friendly. The inside of the FBO was very clean and new with a full complement of planning computers, lounge, etc. Definitely will go back, fuel was a little high for FS in my opinion, just not worth it, but I bought it because I wanted to give them business in return for their hospitality, bravo.

Finally!!! Relief from Signature and their high prices and attitude...Made 2 stops at SheltAir's beautiful new facility this weekend and enjoyed their hospitality, beautiful facility, friendly and courteous staff, uncongested ramp, and lower fees. Call first and negotiate, they are more than willing to help you.

I arrived in Savannah for a wedding on Sunday and they had the car running next to the plane and directions for my destination. These people are the most gracious and professional people in the FBO business. I was leaving Sunday night, but the weather was lousy and they gave me a crew car to use for the night and directions to an excellent hotel. The next day the weather was not getting better and again they gave me a crew car to use. These people go beyond nice and treat you better than any destination that I have been. They match or beat any fuel price on the field and are reasonable in ramp fees and fuel purchases. The FBO facility is state of the art and has every creature comfort for passengers and pilots and in a luxurious atmosphere. This facility is an excellent place to meet business clients and friends. Signature FBO was a very negative experience in the past, and I am so glad SheltAir is now open. I could not be happier with the new SheltAir FBO!

I have to comment how terrific SheltAir's customer service was on our recent visit to KSAV. The line staff must have mistaken our Cessna 350 for a business jet since they treated us like we just bought 150 gallons of fuel instead of 15. This is the type of attitude in today's business environment that will guaranty their success! I also want to thank Allie on the front desk for making us so welcome, as well as her restaurant recommendation to celebrate my wife's birthday, which was our trip mission that day.

From David Blakney on 30-Apr-2009
Highly recommend this stop at SAV. Our little C172 was greeted by friendly staff and the facilities are superb. This place is truly a model for any FBO.

Stopped at SheltAir last week in our Skylane on our way from our home base on Cape Cod (MA) to Fort Myers (FL). We stayed a few nights in Savannah. The service at SheltAir was great - very friendly, efficient and accommodating staff. Our rental car was ready and brought out to the airplane for us upon our arrival. The facilities are top notch and the folks there are very welcoming. I highly recommend them with no reservations whatsoever.

Flew in to KSAV on 4-18-09 and after reading the other reviews decided to try SheltAir. It was my first visit to Savannah by air. The staff was very friendly, helpful and conversational. Their new facility will be open in less than a week. I'll definitely be back. Thanks, SheltAir!

From Richard Pouch on 15-Apr-2009
In and out twice in the last 2 weeks to d/o and p/u daughter and grand kids. Didn't need fuel but these folks were terrific. Easy in and out, clean and fantastic cookies! Highly recommend.

From Jeff Sicard on 08-Apr-2009
I flew in on March 31 in my piston single and decided to try the new guys on the field. I'm glad I did as the staff and service was outstanding. They were very accommodating, shuttled me over to the main terminal a couple times, and put my plane in their hangar when a tornado warning was issued. I couldn't ask for better service. I'll be back...

From Jim Murphy on 06-Apr-2009
I stopped here for an overnight trip, and had an enjoyable experience. The rental car was ready; the cookies were soft, and the popcorn fresh! I was treated like a friend of the owner, even in my lowly Cherokee. Parking fee is $12, whether or not you buy fuel. I consider that to be a fair exchange for the service I received.

From Ken Bagwell on 17-Mar-2009
Does anyone know when they open?
