Flew in on Friday (June 20) for an Angel Flight. As in the past, line service was very quick and friendly.

Fellow aviators, please be aware that hangar space in the winter has a premium price tag. That being said do your homework in advance and ask for the price before you place your aircraft in a hangar at SLK. My company unfortunately paid $720 a night for hangaring a LJ55 in a privately owned hangar. Opportunism is at work. The FBO line crew are a great team and do a great job, however, they cannot control what the owner of that particular hangar wants to charge.

I landed at SLK in a Warrior for lunch on Jan 3, 2007. Fuel price was reasonable and the line guys were extremely friendly. I asked the fellow at the counter if there was a parking fee. His comment was that parking fees only applied to twins or single engine turboprops (he used Pilatus as an example). Had lunch at Paula's Airport Cafe - very nice. Overall, a very friendly place and worth a return visit.

Flew in to SLK today to try some place new and different for a breakfast run. The line service was quick and friendly though I didn't see any weather computer, etc. Breakfast was good and if I was charged a landing fee I didn't notice. Even if I was, I see that as the cost of keeping great little places like this open. Beautiful scenery, good food and service...I'll be back fee or not. Note: ATC loses radar and radio contact with you once on the approach so you're on your own for a while. When leaving your IFR clearance is obtained by using the VOR as a relay.

Flew from Lebanon, NH (LEB) to SLK this morning for breakfast at the Airport Cafe. Started off good with a very friendly and helpful FBO followed by an excellent experience at Paula's Cafe. The problem came when I was presented with a $30 landing fee upon leaving. I fly a Piper Meridian and have only experienced landing fees of this amount at larger, metropolitan, controlled airports. Apparently, it is the city charging this and not the FBO. The attendant showed me the list of aircraft, which are, assessed different fees in what seemed like a very random system. I thought I had found a great breakfast/fuel stop but I will not return due to the unreasonable landing fee. I will inform my fellow pilots to be very cautious before landing at SLK!
