I had to divert into SME while on an Angel Flt. Wx forced a refuel stop so I attempted to use the self-serve pump. I got one wing filled and the pump crapped out. I ran my card and tried it again (mistake!)...The pump burped a couple of teaspoons of fuel (no more than that) and billed me for $3.53. As a heads up you should know the self/serve pricing is a bit deceptive. They show the price WITHOUT the tax added in. Instead of $4.90/gallon it's actually $5.18. I suspect they've done the same thing with the other prices listed. The gent working there offered to use the truck to finish fueling me and charged the same s/s rate of $4.90, which was appreciated. Nice airport.

I flew into KSME on 2 December en route to KDLH. Weather prevented continuing my trip until the next day. Sidney put up with me all day; even met me at the self serve pump with an umbrella when I pulled in for fuel. Loaned me the car overnight to go to the hotel. I left early the next day, before the office opened and realized I had left a checklist and a kneeboard in the office (which was locked). They mailed them to me!! Stop at this airport for great fuel prices and fantastic service. I'll be back.

I was stuck by weather for 5 days Oct/07. The hospitality of Jessica and Tim was outstanding.
