Planning a weekend trip from San Francisco. Just called to ask if I could reserve a rental car, received a rude response from an annoyed person that this was a flight school, not a rental car agency! Guess I'll be heading for Atlantic

FBO? That isn't how I would describe it. How about some tiedowns located near the self-serve pumps? That would better describe it. No one offered to lift a finger with bags, pulling my plane from the pumps to the tiedowns, anything. Even had to practically beg them to take my money for the tiedown fee. An FBO it's not. As long as your expectations are in line with that, no problem.

It was our second visit to American Flyers at SMO, and again, we have received an excellent service with parking, getting fuel and organizing a cab to get to the pier. Nice and friendly staff. Highly recommended for anybody arriving at SMO in a non-jet. Thanks to everybody at Santa Monica American Flyers!

Flew into SMO early evening April 28 with wife and daughter for college tours. Was met by Collin who offered any assistance we needed as if we were family. Had arranged rental car from Koi at Go Rental. Brand new rental car waiting as promised. Staff there to help with luggage and anything else. Was not familiar with departure Collin was more than willing to offer any assistance. Very friendly and easy. Will be back. Job well done

Great experience with American Flyers - flew down for a set of business meetings. They handled the Enterprise rental car nicely, allowed us to have a meeting in one of their rooms, and were welcoming and friendly. In the past, I've parked at transient in front of the admin building. From now on, I will probably use American Flyers.

If you do arrive after hours, simply call airport security at (310)458-8491 or (310)925-9847. They will let you in and even give you a ride to your plane. (Just remember that you can't start up or take off between 11 p.M. And 7 a.M. Weekdays or 8 a.M. Weekends and holidays at SMO.) American Flyers is the FBO for piston operators at SMO, between the high fuel prices and the $40 ramp fees at the other place on the north side, you can easily save $200 by using American Flyers instead.

Go ahead and patronize the "little guy" (less expensive) FBO at SMO, American Flyers. The SS fuel pump is directly in front of the FBO office. Taking fuel here will give a discount on overnight parking. A call to Enterprise Rent-A-Car will have the car steps from the tie-down area and keys at the FBO desk. The line crew was very accommodating. The location provides a quicker airport exit going west out of their driveway. Reasonably priced fuel and parking without the flashy lobby and longer business hours of Atlantic. Just make sure you are going to depart before American Flyers closes, as there is no access to the ramp after hours and you don't want to be locked out.
