Just a fuel stop on the way back home in our Mooney. Well treated by all. Will return.....

From Brian Fair on 20-Nov-2011

Flew in for lunch on a Sunday -- we were met by a follow-me golf cart after landing. No ramp fee for our short stay. It was a quick walk to Southern Soul BBQ so we didn't ask about a car. A good experience.

From John Hand on 02-Oct-2011

Planned a weekend trip there recently with a large group and I travel there quite often. We came in on Friday and I opted to top off my Navajo Chieftain there (even though I didn't need to top it off) and my pilot took the plane back to its home base. Spent over $600 on fuel. When my pilot returned on Sunday to pick us up for the same trip, we didn't need fuel because we had a full load of people and bags. Regardless, They insisted on collecting a "ramp fee" for the pick up. I made the point that I had just purchased over $600 in fuel on the trip down Friday, and the response was that their "policy" was a daily policy regardless of what we did the same weekend. They also tried to collect the fee for a turbo prop twin (nearly double), though the Navajo is an obviously a piston twin. Frankly, these are the types of experiences that make us want to take our business elsewhere.

Was at SSI to get married this past weekend. Upon arrival in Grumman Cheetah we were treated as if we arrived in a Gulfstream V. Very friendly ramp crew that offered to fuel us and they helped with our bags by granting us access to the plane with the rental car. We will be back!

What a beautiful airport to fly into at dusk! Excellently maintained strips and handy self serve with reasonable prices.

From Eric Demers on 13-Apr-2011

Flew in from Canada without calling ahead and got royal service despite our Piper Cherokee. Wow!

From Jerry Green on 15-Jan-2011

Golden Isles continues to be one of the best FBO's anywhere. We stop there once or twice a year. Highly recommended.

From Brett Shelton on 12-Oct-2010

Flew our Comanche to the PGA Tour event this past weekend. The staff and facilities at Golden Isles were first class! Highly recommend. The new concrete ramp is awesome. Great job!

From Richard Rolland on 10-Oct-2010

Landed at SSI twice recently. First time in late August when I was being chased by CB's on my way down to Miami from Vermont. The line crew wheeled me to the FBO despite heavy rain and Amanda right away got accommodations and transport to the hotel. This past weekend, we flew in for a day of sight seeing. Great stop once again. We will be back.

From F. Craig Albright on 29-Jun-2010

Despite being very busy, Golden Isles provided a crew car, map of the area, great recommendations for restaurants, and ran us back and forth to the aircraft. I'd be very pleased to use their services again...

From Christian Schoemig on 21-Jun-2010

Very friendly folks, descent fuel prices, courtesy car. Wonderful stop to see the lighthouse had some ice cream by the water and traveled on.

From Richard Herbst on 23-Feb-2010

Outstanding service, reasonable fuel, courtesy car, no shortage of restaurants & hotels. Make this your S. Georgia stop, you'll want to come back.

From Donald Thompson on 17-Jan-2010

I stop in here every 3 - 4 weeks in TBM. Always quick and efficient service. Solid FBO in every respect. Clean, great terminal with Hertz in terminal. Highly recommended.

From Robert Machala on 29-Dec-2009

Stopped for a quick lunch on a beautiful day. Staff was outstanding in all respects (including a great suggestion for lunch). Special thanks to Amanda for assisting in locating a missing pair of prescription glasses. My passenger was thoroughly impressed with the support provided by the FBO.

From Andrew Elwood on 07-Dec-2009

Stopped here for an overnight as part of a 5 day IFR cross country. Very nice!

Great stop to stay see the area or just refuel and go. Great pilot's lounge, weather services, and spacious accommodations. Great BBQ place and ocean just a few blocks away. Definitely treated like royalty and will return again to see more of the island.

From Randy Sumner on 16-Nov-2009

Great helpful staff and accomodating FBO. Always make my visit a pleasure.

From Joe Laporte on 29-Oct-2009

Very helpful people. Flew in on a 172 going from NY to Fl. Was refueled and out the door within 20 minutes. Surroundings of airport are quite beautiful.

Fantastic folks and first class operation. We had to divert due to line of storms and ended up stranded on St Simons. The folks at Golden Isles got us a fantastic rate at the Sea Palms, a wonderfully remodeled hotel and lent us the crew car for the night. The kids enjoyed a walk on the beach and we enjoyed the comfortable room. Thanks Golden Isles.

Really nice FBO. Super helpful & friendly STAFF. Reasonable fuel prices. Wanted to highlight the Southern Soul BBQ Restaurant. 4 minute walk from FBO. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but food is terrific!! I'm from Lexington, NC, (home of World Famous LEXINGTON STYLE BBQ), but the pulled pork bbq & the brisket were outstanding. Also, the homemade baked beans & cornbread were terrific! You've got to give it a try.

From Jordan Colby on 23-Jul-2009

As usual, a pleasant stop. Courtesy vans available for lunch runs. Not the least expensive gas on the north-south route, but helpful staff, good FBO services, nice surrounding area. Five minutes to the center of town with multiple lodging and dining options.

From Steve Barber on 20-Jul-2009

Golden Isles Aviation is a first rate operation with reasonable fuel prices. While I was there I had a charging issue that turned out to be an easy fix. Hats off to PALMETTO AVIATION REPAIR at SSI. They jumped on the problem and charged a reasonable rate to allow me to get back home on schedule. THANKS KIRK!

From Greg Vouga on 22-Jun-2009

Very nice FBO. The staff was extremely friendly and provided a crew car for a trip into town to get food. There are many convenient restaurants, but Barbara Jeans was recommended by the FBO for good seafood. Best crab cakes that I've had in years! Great Experience, I'll be back!

From Tim Meade on 26-May-2009

I was flying with my wife on Memorial Day Weekend into SSI and lost my alternator flying IFR in the soup. By the time I got to the ground I had 8 volts charge left on a 28-volt system. PALMETTO AVIATION took the plane diagnosed the issue, uninstalled, charged the battery overnight and reinstalled the battery for me. They offered to get an alternator, but it would take a few days so I elected to return home VFR on just the battery power. Kirk the manager would not take a dime for any of the work he or Chuck, his mechanic did. They even advised me that taking the plane home to get it fixed was a viable option. These guys were great to work with, they were more interested in getting me home than picking up a few extra bucks over the long weekend. I appreciate their efforts and to both I owe a big thank you. I will not hesitate to bring my plant to Palmetto should the need ever arise.

From Greg Hopp on 08-May-2009

St Simons as everyone on traffic advisory was calling it was windy and fairly busy that day. Significant construction projects going on when we were there on 4/23/09 but no problem getting around to/from the self serve pumps. Lots of dirt & dust blowing around in places but otherwise a nice stop in.

From Douglas K. Manuel on 01-May-2009

Golden Isles Aviation has one of the finest pilot's lounges I have seen. The biz jets dwarfed our little C182, however, this did not deter the line staff from giving us first-rate service. I wanted to mention how 'great' the women, at the service desk, are. But, my wife won't let me.

From Omer Perlstein on 26-Feb-2009

OK, so this is a bit long, but worth the read: first of all, first class service, very comfortable, helpful and very nice and friendly staff, definitely worth a visit. Now, to my personal story: Me and a friend landed on Feb. 18th for a top off and a quick coffee, Suzie (hope I got her name spelled right) was very friendly and helped me scan my driver's license and credit card to send a copy of them to a car rental company at our final destination for the day. Three flight hours later, 300 miles south, I realized I left my credit card AND driver's license in their scanner, now, we were on a tight travel schedule, and flying back was not an option. I called Suzie, and the morning later they were sent express to the airport we stopped in afterwards. I want to express my appreciation and thanks to the lovely staff and recommend GOLDEN ISLES AVIATION. Thanks again! Will definitely be back!
