Landed as a fuel stop in the Lancair. Quick call to the manager who provided fuel from a truck. Courtesy car available and another plane had just landed to use that. Runway was in great condition and the taxiway back to runway was rough as a cob. Next time, I'll backtrack on the runway. Overall, very happy with this airport and it makes a nice stop for me northbound from Dallas. The facilities had wi-fi, weather computer, and washrooms. Not new, but with courtesy car, local motels and restaurants, this is a good place to land, rest or overnight.

RON'ed there 21 Aug 2011. Very friendly, efficient service. Courtesy car. Nice town with adequate restaurants and motels. Highly recommend it as a fuel/RON stop.

We've been to Sterling many times, but this is the first since they finished the runway renovations. As I understand, they tore out the northerly 500 feet (too close to Highway 14) and added 1000 feet on the south end for a net gain of 500 feet. Visiting Sterling is always pleasant, the decent fuel price and good oil price is a plus.

Outstanding service at Sterling. Sam was the greatest. We stopped short enroute to Cheyenne. Sam put us in the hangar, gave us the courtesy car and pointed us to town. We appreciated his helpfulness and great conversation. Another gem here in Sterling is the Overland Museum. About 5 miles from the airport but well worth the trip. This whole town has been great.
