Got my private pilot certificate recently through Waypoint. It’s a great flight school run by excellent flight instructors. You can go all the way up through commercial (I think) and they're working on adding more airplanes, instructors and available ratings. The 172's they're currently using are in good condition and well maintained. KSYR is a great airport to learn to fly at since it has a good mix of commercial and GA traffic, but they're separated by the main runway (GA on the south, airlines on the north). The controllers are exceptionally friendly and understanding (they have trainees too). Definitely give Waypoint a shot if you live near Syracuse, Rome or Hamilton, NY.
