Good, friendly airport. Though fuel prices are way too high.

I've flown in here multiple times. Staff & line guys are always top-notch as GA is a big part of their business. Self-serve pumps are easy to use. I had an engine problem one time and the FBO follow-me van parked me off their ramp at the maintenance shop on the field. This FBO has their act together.

Needed a quick fuel stop on my way to VNY and the self serve here did the trick. Cheap prices, very nice pump, and some of the friendliest controllers that I have ever talked too. Will be back!

Outstanding service and help. Line guy offered shaded hangar for $20/night. Well worth it in view of 100+ degree temp. Picked up in van and taken to FBO. Immediate cab service. ATC very helpful with progressives and information pertinent to flying in the class B and military areas. Pay attention to 4 zones where runway incursions seem to be a problem. This is a top rate airport.

Awesome. Quick response to everything. I had trouble with their self-service island and they came running out to help in seconds. I tried to tip the van driver and he smiled, (no tips). Highly recommended.

I fly into VGT 6-8 times a year. Great staff at the FBO counter. Friendly ATC controllers in the tower. Easy transient parking and near the self fuel pump. Tie down fee is now $9 per night for singles.

I fly into VGT 3-4 times a year and the staff has always been friendly and courteous. The solution to your rent-a-car needs is Avis. AOPA gives you a discount with them and, even though they don't have a presence at the field, they will deliver. Last few times it was $88 for the weekend and they never charged me the $25 drop-off fee. Excellent service.

Flew into North Las Vegas from Tucson four times during Nov 2010. Each time controllers were great but expect some vectors to accommodate commercial traffic into McCarran. No problems getting into VGT from the south but departing south can be a bit circuitous if there's a lot of traffic at Nellis. Just be patient and once you're east of Nellis you can turn south below the shelf of the Class B. Nellis controllers are excellent and friendly. Parking fees at VGT were $7 per night - not waived for fuel purchase. Cabs were $33 (with tip) from the Flamingo to the front door of VGT. Only negative experience was with Enterprise - rented a car on one trip ahead of time and no one was at the terminal upon arrival. Called them and it took over 45 mins for an Enterprise employee to arrive and take us to the rental car office. Returning was a breeze, just dropped the keys in the drop box at VGT and flew away. In their defense, they did upgrade us to a luxury SUV for free. Will return.

I've been flying into North Las Vegas since 1979, and now 30+ years later after arriving to pick up my wife, I was charged a $10 fee to park on the ramp for 10 minutes.

Everyone was very helpful and professional. Nellis and Las Vegas controllers were also top notch and helpful both in and out of the area. Great experience all the way around.

Flew in on 6/15/10. Nellis controllers were great! Having never been there before Nellis lined me right up for Rwy 12R, tower was great! Great experience! Line guy by the name of Mario was absolutely awesome. Oxy and Hangar price was right in line. We did not rent a car but took a taxi to the strip; cost was 34 with a tip. The taxi back was 40 bucks. It was still cheaper than renting a car. Everything worked out really great for us! If I came back I would duplicate everything if possible!

You can add me to the list of people who have had a lousy experience renting a car at VGT. I made a reservation with Hertz to pick up a car at 1:00 pm on a Friday and was told there would be no problem returning it the next day, Saturday. When I picked up the car I was given instructions for leaving the keys in a drop box upon return. That's what I did. Several days later, I checked my credit card statement and saw I was charged twice as much as agreed. I immediately called Hertz (the local number) and was told I'd been charged for two days instead of one. They said they'd adjust the charge but it could take up to three weeks. Why does renting a car have to be so problematic at this location?

Car Rental on weekends is a problem. Neither Hertz nor Enterprise is staffed. Hertz will charge for weekend days whether you need them or not, pick up keys from terminal people. Enterprise requires you to pick up car on weekday only but does not charge for unused weekend days. Both have key drop-off boxes. Be sure to reserve Enterprise ahead of time, they often have no extra cars available. BTW: Unless you have a good corp. account w/ Hertz, Enterprise is about $10/day cheaper (at this time).

Went to Vegas last weekend (9/12 and 9/13) and parked at VGT. I've been to VGT many times and have been very happy with the service I received. The Follow-me van was already waving at me by the time I turned into the ramp, the line guy tied down my plane for me as I was packing up stuff in the cockpit and he gave me a ride to the terminal. The ladies at the terminal was quick and friendly, I was off to my reserved rental car with Hertz in no time. The nice thing about VGT compared to HND is that it has a crossing runway (7-25), and wind can get pretty crazy at Vegas so a crossing runway is handy in case the wind is not blowing along the direction of the main runways.

I visited KVGT on Friday Aug 21 and 22nd. Nice airport, Service not so nice. Not a good place to go for service, it just won't happen. No Hanger or Shade parking. The good news is it's not a busy airport. Easy in and Easy out. Just remember, don't ask for anything or expect anything.

Getting from the airport to the hotels on (or off) the Strip has been a problem at KVGT. I recommend APT Limousine Service; the Boss is a pilot and understands what we need. I had two nice drivers in a 7 passenger Ford SUV for a very reasonable rate (negotiate a little). They couldn't have been more helpful.

Approach and tower controllers very helpful and friendly. Outstanding FBO immediately met our airplane, tied us down, patiently waited until we unloaded, then took us to the FBO/terminal. Tie-down $5 per night (for a single), with close self-service 100LL $3.62. Forget McCarran! Offered to take us back to the airplane for departure. Well-equipped flight planning room with a PC, printer, and weather PC setup. Car rental companies appear permanently closed; work with the FBO counter personnel, or call car rental companies directly, in advance. Free shuttle service to the strip no longer runs, a sign of the times I guess. This worked well for us: although I planned it in advance: if you can deal with taking two city buses (106 and 108), you can get virtually anywhere downtown or the strip ($3 for a 24-hr bus pass). Bus stops on the street in front of terminal. Ideal if you're there just for the day, or have just a little luggage as we did--car rental prices are high in Las Vegas.

Flew in IFR from the north since unfamiliar w/the local airspace. The Approach controller was very friendly, and kept apologizing for having to route us around military traffic and geography (no apologies needed). Found the FBO to be "ok", but nothing special. Didn't seem to matter one way or the other that we were there. No ride back to the aircraft after dropping off the rental car-- not essential, but it was a fairly long walk and would have been nice. Hertz left the car for us to pick up, no map, no maps at their kiosk (nor at Enterprises'). Fuel was cheap, as posted on AirNav.Com. Very convenient to Las Vegas. Would definitely use again.
