Any pilot in Vegas for a couple of days should rent an aircraft and fly out around the Hoover Dam and then on to 1G4 to visit the reservation, see great views of the Grand Canyon, and do the glass walkway. Instead of a 3-hour car trip each way to the Canyon you have a pleasant 45-minute flight. The people at Monarch Sky were great in hooking us up with an aircraft (they have multiple types in the club, one is sure to suit you) giving us local information, etc. For our flight. We flew a 172 and an Arrow, both older but clean and well maintained with a mix of steam and Garmin. Bring your own GPS and the Grand Canyon/Las Vegas sectional and terminal charts as well as the POH for the aircraft you are thinking of renting and study them prior to your trip to facilitate your checkout and flight in the area. We flew our of Monarch's locations both at NLV and Executive, and NLV is very busy (progressive taxi helped out) and Executive is much less busy and easier to get in an out of.

Heavily recommended!! I intended to rent a plane and fly around Vegas as part of my vacation. After a *horrible* experience at West Air, I called up Monarch to see what they could do for us. It was amazing. They picked us up and with 15 minutes set us up to fly their Cherokee Six. The original CFI had to cancel last minute so the owner, Richard, took us himself. The plane was top notch, with a Garmin 530 package. They also provided us 4 headsets at no additional charge. Richard also had some wonderful suggestions for sightseeing in the area. Simply amazing! I will be coming back here someday.
