I regularly stop into VKX to refuel my helicopter and fill up my trailer. They have FOUR self-service pumps open 24/7. If you join the fuel club, this is the least expensive fuel in town by at least $1/gal. Their FBO building is open 24/7 via card access if you join the fuel club. Make sure you get vetted for the DC-3 airports (VKX, CGS, and W32) before you enter.

I just based my 182 here and it's a great little airport that is surprisingly active and friendly in spite of being deep in the FRZ. If you're not vetted to fly in here, mute your computer, go to the website, and follow David's instructions--if you plan it right you can do it in a day. Warning to Verizon cell phone users...You will get virtually no signal across the entire airport...A phone is inside the office but plan accordingly!

Great place to fly out of. I'm a member of ATC's flying club and enjoy it quite a bit. FRZ background check isn't that complicated, you just have to take a half day and do it. Fuel on AirNav is wrong. The club price was $3.48 when I flew on 7/3/09.
