Just moved my Skylane to the airport from KPTK. The FBO is closed, but the public terminal provides just about everything you'd expect from a good FBO for free (except fuel of course). The staff is absolutely fantastic and the terminal is clean and well outfitted for GA anything up to a Turbo Prop. Very close to many Troy, Royal Oak and Birmingham businesses. AWOS and GPS approaches make it a pretty good IFR stop. Hope to see multiple vendors for gas and fuel to keep the pricing competitive, but it's a tough business for those guys and they need to make a profit.

This is a poster child of why otherwise fine airports fail. Two or three FBO's/terminals, yet not a single open at 5:30pm on a Saturday. Not just Metroline, "aviation heaven (hell)" JDS or the new FBO on the field. They + government are all culpable. This is Oakland County, the third most affluent county in the nature, yet my backwoods rural airport has far better service then anyone on this field. For one, the cushy 9-5 government job of airport manager needs to go... Why have some government lackey who "manages" the airport? Outsource this to one of the FBO's... That is what we do at our field. And further, you need an FBO on this field that can be an anchor. If Metroline needs help, help them. If not, find one that can step up to the plate. With all the signs on the door about "service to pay customers only" one can read between the lines and know something is not right at this field. You at KVLL better wake up, else your going to find your airport yet another subdivision.

The only problem I have had here is people seem to think it is OK to park at the pump. Not once, but twice, I've had to track down owners that are AWOL. I've come to the conclusion the Troy airport is home to brain damaged pilots who base their aircraft here. Oh, and watch out for the helicopter owner, he almost collided with my plane while I was waiting for someone to clear out of line.

Same old same old at this airport. High prices and no ones cares. The 'merry go round' keeps going around, we've been through so many "FBOS" here, you'd need a calculator to keep track of them. They just don't 'get it' !!! The smart ones fly to PTK and fill up, and get any other services.

Apparently the discount mentioned earlier is only for aircraft hangared in the JDS facility.

Bought 100LL here on 3/19/06 and the price was $3.50/gal. A rep from JDS mentioned that if an AvFuel card is used the price will still show as $3.50 at the pump but will be discounted on the monthly invoice though he wasn't sure how much the discount was.

Ah someone seems to be gaming the price listing on AirNav for this location. Please note: The price for 100LL as of 3-4-06 ($3.65/gal) is the same as when this facility first opened last month. I reported the price then and is has not changed since. Yet the price was reported by someone on 3-2-06 (two days ago) as $3.50. Mind you the price for fuel at this self service pump is NOT posted anywhere. It seems you have to first purchase fuel to get a price. So I assumed that is had changed based on the AirNav listing. Until I got my receipt. The price is still $3.65.
Response from Kristen Schestag, JDS Pump-N-Go The fuel master system does list the prices of each type of fuel. A consumer can press a button on the system before fueling to double-check the fuel prices. Prices were changed on the pumps on Monday, March 6 and AirNav was updated on 3/10/06 to reflect these prices.
