During a recent VFR trip from Ga. To La., we were forced to land at M43 due to weather. The small town of Prentiss is miles away from anything, but what a beautiful airstrip when you are desperate to land. We were more pleased to find an unlocked building to shelter the weather for 5 hours while waiting for a car ride to our destination. During our review of pictures, sign-in books and anything else we could read, we ran across a name of Lonnie Steverson, so we called to get advise on tie down instructions for our plane which we would have to leave for the next 4 days. The next day I get a call from Lonnie telling me that Prentiss is expecting bad weather with high winds (I'm now 4 hours away from my plane) he tell me not to worry, he will put it in his hangar and asked, when should we return so that our plane would be out and ready! Totally unexpected gesture from a gentlemen from whom I had only a brief phone conversation. Can't thank you enough Lonnie, you are truly a great person.

My wife and I were flying from DTN to 7FL6 when we lost our radios, we were directly above M43, we landed and were all alone, it was a holiday and we called the local Police for assistance, within 30-min a local pilot (Lonnie Steverson) based on the field arrived. After hours of working to help correct the issue, we were offered the battery from his Commander 114 in pristine condition to complete the trip but to our surprise we were offered the opportunity to stay with Lonnie at his home with his family for the evening. We were overwhelmed with gratitude and accepted the offer. The next day we arrived back at the airport and rolled our V35 bonanza out of Lonnie hangar, Lonnie loaned us his battery for the trip to Daytona to get our Voltage Regulator fixed. In this time it is hard to find people that will go out of their way to help others the way Lonnie and his family did; they have made a long time friend with us. Hats off to this little town, they have great people there!
