I am extremely surprised by that poor review. I have flown in and out of N85 many times and have had nothing short of a stellar experience. There is nothing better than arriving at an airport and feeling like part of the family. The owners of this airport are very generous people that care about their customers. Don't let one bad egg spoil a potentially great experience at a nice airport.

I've been to what seems like every airport in North America and my visit to N85 was the worst, by far. The supposed "owner" of the airport was not happy with where I parked and immediately started giving me a hard time the second I opened the door. If you don't want transient aircraft to use a particular ramp then publish it or post it. He also stated that he would move my airplane himself using the phrase "and don't think I won't do it." In addition, I also was told that he was going to call a police cruiser and "claim I don't know what your doing here" suggesting he would lie to make it seem as if I was some sort of "threat." Guess he didn't like me telling him to publish his procedures in the A/FD. Last I checked the ramp guy in the polo shirt wasn't PIC of any aircraft moving on the airport surface. If you would like somebody to park someplace specific, ask them (nicely) on the CTAF/Unicom, publish it, or post it. Otherwise expect people to park where they deem appropriate.Response from Linda Castner, Part Owner/Operator, Alexandria Field Clarifications on Mr. Brian Yates visit to N85 from those people at the fuel pumps being helped. Why did he not respond to the numerous attempts to give him directions? He did not even stop when given the universal hand signal to do so. One of the airport operators was helping other people at the fuel pump due to the volume of people. When he walked over to the airplane the pilot started waving his arms, speaking loudly and with a very nasty tone. He was offered the option to wait until the pump was free or move from the spot where he was blocking flight school traffic. No one was unreasonable accept Mr. Yates.

Bob Case must have been having himself a really bad day, 'cause my experience at N85 was nothing but SUPERLATIVE! Linda and Corky were a delight... Courteous, helpful and professional. And the courtesy car... WOW! A brand new Hyundai Hybrid that comes with a packet of discount coupons that can be used for local products and services. A small donation for the car is far offset by the savings gained with the coupons, and I'm told the donation also helps fund a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) program that the airport administers for the local Aviation Science Club. Talk about folks that give back to the community. Linda and Corky do that in spades. I'll be back!!

My wife and I have visited this fine airport several times. Every time we have been treated like old friends. We were helped at the self-fueling pumps. Cork and Linda who run the FBO were welcoming and very attentive. All in all, very pleasant experience! And they now have a courtesy car. We'll be back.

Over the last decade, I have provided numerous spin/emergency maneuver training clinics and participated in several Leaders/Women Take Flight workshops from Alexandria Field. N85 is among the prettiest airports in the U.S., the local pilots, among the friendliest; and Linda and Corky Castner, among the most generous and welcoming! I have always felt at home at N85. Thanks!

I live in CT (based in HFD) and I've flown down to N85 twice in the past month to visit my parents, and stayed overnight both times. Corky, the FBO manager, offered to keep my plane locked in a vacant hangar overnight. I didn't even have to ask, he just offered! On my first trip, both my mains were running low. I called the office and asked if they had an air compressor. Corky filled up a portable air tank and drove it over to the hangar, then picked it up after we had taxied away. Just amazing service! I'm lucky enough to have my own car service (my parents) but I've seen a nice new courtesy car sitting on the ramp (unused) both times I've visited N85, so there's a good chance it could be available if you give the FBO a call.
