One of our favorite fuel/lunch destinations. As of this date Hal and Kathy's still have one of the best burgers you'll find, half-pounders on homemade buns. It's a 10 minute walk to town. Fuel price was $5.70 when we last filled on Nov 26 but fuel pump has been inop since the end of November. Prices usually match AirNav. Super clean restrooms & nice pilot lounge.

A rental car (old) can be obtained from "Hiway Garage" in nearby McArthur (530) 336-5532. They keep two available at the airport. Not cheap.

A quiet little airport with 24-hr self-serve fuel, a very clean bathroom, and a handy little pilot's lounge with a comfy couch and plenty of aviation magazines to read. If you're hungry, there's a greasy spoon with burgers and ice cream about 5 minutes' walk west of the airport. In town (an easy 1-mile walk west of the airport), Hal & Kathy's Cookhouse serves up the finest club sandwich I've ever tasted, along with some vintage charm. Lots of memorabilia from the 1930s through the 60s cover the interior of the cafe. Definitely a great lunch stop.

There is nothing wrong with this airport. I want the "average" rating to be seen in the right light. There is just nothing exceptional about it. It has the basics of runway, bathrooms, and fuel. If landing for a quick fuel stop, like I was, it is ideal. The higher elevation cuts on your descent and climbing out time. The fuel pump is close to the runway, though oddly located right next to the access gate. There are clean bathrooms and small pilot's lounge with a code door (know your frequencies). I had a very quick turn around, and was on my way.

Fuel stop on 09/24/2010. Fuel price matched the price posted on AirNav. The restrooms and pilot lounge (no computer) were good. Quick in and out. Excellent fuel price for the area. Very good runway, taxiway and ramp area. Self-serve fuel pump worked well and was easy to use.

Visited on June 16, 2009. Fuel price was $3.85 for 100LL. The John Deere dealer at the airport loaned us bikes for the short ride into town (note: the John Deere dealer is closed weekends). The Fall River Hotel (530.336.5550) will provide airport pickup if you wish to dine at the hotel. A nice AAA-rated motel also provides airport pickup. A great airport and a delightful place to visit.
