Thanks for staying OPEN despite the constant pressures to close-up and sell the real estate for housing. The developments around the airport have homes now in the $1M range. This is a traditional "grass roots" airport with a friendly, helpful staff and OK facilities for the area. Also, very grateful it is not in the Washington FRZ (notched out) and easier to access. Nothing within walking distance to eat, but a good stop for fuel for access to DC if you do not or can not fly to KCGS. Thanks again, Freeway staff!

Can't beat the convenience of Freeway for DC access. The airport is a 10 minute drive from the closest Metro station, and the folks behind the desk at the FBO are super friendly and helpful. Now the bad...Very TALL trees close to the approach end of runway 18 make the approach sporty if you fly a HP single at or near gross weight. Getting the wheels down on the first 1/3rd of the 2400' runway a-bit challenging. The taxiway - and I use that term liberally - traverses up and down some significant hills and I opted not to use it and just back taxied. Parking is terrible. Grass for transients and the ground is really soft especially after a light rain. The facilities are old, shabby and the restrooms are akin to something you'd find at a backwoods gas station. Lastly - Enterprise rental car won't do drop off's at the airport, so ground transportation requires a wait while a cab or the rental car folks come to collect you.

Just outside the restricted DC zone, and excellent choice for friendly, helpful service. They secured a rental car for me from Melvin Motors, who could not have been more helpful and fair priced.

Flew into W00 Sunday afternoon. It had just rained and I learned the only place to park was in the grass! Very soft ground! I nearly got stuck. Departed today. People were nice and helpful but the facility is lacking. Restroom is very dirty. Okay stop for fuel, but that would be the only thing you'd want here!
